How to Evolve Aipom Into Ambipom in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

One of the coolest parts of the original Gen 4 Pokemon games is that they went back and added evolutions to otherwise obscure ‘mons. Although Aipom from Gen 2 is very cute and beloved, it’s a rather underwhelming Pokemon from a battling perspective. Fortunately, Gen 4 made Aipom a bit more appealing in battle with the addition of its evolution, Ambipom. In this guide, we’re going to go over how you can evolve Aipom into Ambipom in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Aipom is a fairly average to below-average Normal type Pokemon. It’s a little monkey that can scratch you and isn’t as powerful as Primeape or even Mankey for that matter. It feels more of a cute Pokemon that Game Freak wanted to throw into Gen 2 for the anime and advertisements than a serious Pokemon.

While its Gen 4 evolution, Ambipom, isn’t setting the world on fire either, it gets a significant base power boost and interesting abilities to work with such as Technician and Skill Link.

You can evolve Aipon in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl by allowing it to level up with the Double Attack move. It’ll learn the move on its own at level 32.

In the event that you’re trying to evolve an Aipom that has not learned the move Double Hit and it won’t have another opportunity to do so since it’s higher than 32, you’ll need to relearn the move instead or breed/catch another.

The Move Relearner in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl can help you relearn Ancient Power. You can find them in the house located northeast of the Pokemart in Pastoria City. Get that taken care of, and you’ll be all set.

That’s all you need to know for how to evolve Aipom into Ambipom in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. For more FAQs answered and other tips, tricks, and guides visit our Pokemon Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond guide wiki.
