This area features a handful of interesting attractions, including the Great Marsh Safari Zone and the Pastoria City Gym.

Both of those places will be significantly relevant for getting and using the Defog HM in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. You have to defeat the Pastoria City Gym Leader, Crasher Wake, and get his badge in order to use the HM outside of combat.
