Battlefield 2042 Data Drives: How to Find & Extract Them in Hazard Zone

data drives hazard zone

Battlefield 2042 introduces a brand new game mode called Hazard Zone. It has elements of squad-focused battle royales like Apex Legends but it’s definitely not a BR. In fact, it’s probably more similar to The Division’s dark zones if anything. Regardless, it has its own ecosystem, and if you want to live the high life in Hazard Zone you’re going to need lots of Data Drives. In this guide, we’ll go over how to find and extract Data Drives in Hazard Zone.

Scanning to Find Data Drives in Hazard Zone

Data Drives are randomly spawned throughout the map you’re playing on in Hazard Zone. You can always find them in capsules and certain regions in each map will have a higher/lower probability of containing capsules. You’ll always see the stats for your current game prior to the game launching.

You’re ideally in a four-person squad so at least one of your teammates should have the default gadget equipped, the Scanner. The Scanner is basically a telescope that will point out Data Drive locations in-game and will mark them for your team to see.

You don’t have to use the scanner but it will be pretty annoying to find Data Drives without at least one person having it. You can of course have more than one person use the scanner in case you’re worried about the one person dying and no longer having a way to find them.

Finally, anyone you kill that had a Data Drive can be killed and you can steal theirs.

How to Extract Data Drives in Hazard Zone

The whole point of Hazard Zone is to extract Data Drives. Data Drives are the main way to earn lots of Black Market Currency which, in turn, allow you to buy guns and gadgets and make your experience more fun overall.

Once you’ve collected some, at least one, you can choose to extract. There are two opportunities to extract per game, your map will mark the first point as E1, and then later, E2 for the second. You can always see how much time you have left in the current extraction period by viewing the timer on your minimap.

Once you’ve reached the extraction area, a timer will begin for your transport to arrive. You’ll need to survive until the transport gets there, fighting off any other squads looking to steal your Data Drives, Once the transport arrives, its specific location will be marked on your map and you’ll have a certain amount of time to get into the transport while continuing to hold off any enemies before it takes off and you exit the game victorious.

And that’s everything you should need to know about how to find and extra Data Drives in Battlefield 2042. For more useful tips and guides on the game, be sure to check out Twinfinite’s guide wiki. You should also see some related content below that may prove helpful.
