Getting Potatoes, Tomatoes, and Carrots in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Before you start cooking up a storm in your kitchen with all those new fancy recipes you got, you’ll need to get some ingredients first. Most ingredients are pretty easy to obtain, such as weeds, sea bass, and mushrooms. However, getting the crops will require you to pay a visit to Leif.

Leif will randomly show up at your island in front of the Resident Services building, and he’ll have a chance of selling a random start to you. This means that you’re not guaranteed to get potatoes, tomatoes, or carrots from him, and you might end up getting wheat or sugarcane instead.

Alternatively, you can also head to Harv’s island and pay 100,000 Bells to the gyroids there to help Leif set up a permanent shop. If you do this, he’ll refresh his stock every Monday and you can visit him whenever you want, so you don’t have to worry about potentially missing him on your island if you don’t play for a day or something.

Talk to Leif to check his stock, then select the starts you want to buy and press A to confirm your selection. The potatoes, tomatoes, and carrots starts will all cost 280 Bells each, but the good news is that you only need to buy them once. The starts will continue produce crops even after the first harvest; you just have to keep watering them.

With your crops in hand, you’ll now be able to start preparing even more meals from your kitchen.

That’s all you need to know about how to get potatoes, tomatoes, and carrots in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
