Like a lot of items in Animal Crossing New Horizons, this tree is a little tricky to find. There is no information regarding its whereabouts, only that it is required for some recipes.
Simply because it is a hard material to find, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a specific place to find it. In fact, there is an entire area you can go to almost solely to farm bamboo.
The only catch is that it is probably going to take some luck in order to get where you want to go on your first try.
How to Get Bamboo in Animal Crossing New Horizons
So far, the only way we’ve been able to get Bamboo and Bamboo shoots is by taking the Mystery Tour. To take this tour, you’ll need to purchase a Nook Mile Ticket from the Nook Terminal in Resident Services.
Once you’ve purchased a ticket, you’ll be taken to a random island. Here, you’ll find plenty of great resources, trees, and hidden things.
Bamboo is one of those possible hidden materials. Just keep in mind that the mystery island you’ll need to find with this material only pops up through RNG.
Since RNG is involved, it may take you a few attempts to get the right island. When you do, be sure to bring your shovel and plenty of fruit in order to dig up everything up.
Digging up the trees and bringing them back to your island makes it so that you won’t have to rely on Nook Miles Tickets and finding the RNG island ever again.
Young Spring Bamboo
Now that you’ve got your own tree, getting Young Spring Bamboo is only a matter of patience. As the name dictates, it seems this distinct item can only be harvested in the spring.
When you reach the proper season, all you have to do to make it drop is chop down Bamboo with your ax. Pick up the material and use it for one of the many DIY items in the game or even sell it for 80 bells.
How to Get Bamboo and Young Spring Bamboo in Animal Crossing New Horizons:
- Purchase a Nook Miles Ticket from the ATM Machine in Resident Services.
- This takes you to an undetermined mystery island.
- You’ll need to get lucky through RNG, but you’ll eventually head to an island full of the tree.
- Harvest Bamboo and dig a tree with your shovel.
Digging a tree makes it so you don’t have to go back to the island and can grow them on your property
