Offline vs. Online Character in Diablo 2: Resurrected

Ultimately, there’s no “better” choice, it really just comes down to you and your personal preferences. Let’s explain the differences.

An Offline character is exactly what it sounds like. It is barred from playing online and cannot participate in ladder or play with others. It’s essentially an old-school solo character that is locked into being forever alone.

That said, the advantage of making an offline character is that you do not need to connect to Battle.net to play it. You can be offline and still enjoy playing your character.

Online characters, on the other hand, can play with others via an internet connection, and can also participate in seasonal ladder content and collect whatever exclusive rewards are being offered through the ladder.

In our opinion, it’s good to have one of each. If you’re going to be connected to the internet most of the time, we suggest using an Online character; that way you can take advantage of everything Diablo 2 has to offer. However, having an Offline character in times where that isn’t possible is nice to have around as well, especially if you’re on the go on Switch.

But, if you don’t care about ladders or playing with others, you might as well just make an Offline character and save yourself the hassle of having to deal with Battle.net in case things go wrong with the servers.

That’s all you need to know for whether you should make an offline or an online character in Diablo 2: Resurrected. For more Diablo 2: Resurrected check out some of our most recent guides and articles down below.
