The missions that take place in the ruined factory are much more combat-oriented, allowing players to break away from the monotony of fetch quests and engage in some stealth and combat for a change.

The good news is that the first mission taking place in the ruined factory becomes available pretty early on in the game. The bad news is, the storyline is broken up into multiple different missions, so you can’t just do them all in one go.

Unlocking the Ruined Factory in Death Stranding Director’s Cut

To unlock the Ruined Factory, you’ll need to play through the story until you reach chapter 2. After completing the request that tasks you with building the bridge near the Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City, you’ll unlock request 77, which introduces the Maser Gun, and also unlocks the ruined factory location.

Head over there to take out the MULEs and retrieve the the data packs, then come back to the Distribution Center to complete the mission. As you progress through the story, more ruined factory missions will get unlocked, so you’ll want to check back at your delivery terminals whenever you can.

There’s also no way to explore the entire area in one go, as the missions will unlock new areas slowly, so you’ll need to take your time with these either way.

That’s all you need to know about how to unlock the ruined factory missions in Death Stranding Director’s Cut. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
