Developed by Norsfell and published by Gearbox, Tribes of Midgard is a new co-op multiplayer action game that allows you to team up with up to nine other players to explore an open-world and defend your village from invading Helthings and Jotunns. There are tons of items to craft, some of which will require high level resources. Here’s how to get Midnight Yew Essence in Tribes of Midgard.
As you upgrade your NPCs and unlock more items, weapons, and armor to craft in the game, you’ll eventually hit a bit of a wall.
Some of the required materials for the high level items are things you’ve never heard of or encountered in the game, which can be a bit frustrating as the game doesn’t give any clue as to how to get them. Midnight Yew Essence is one of those resources.
Getting Midnight Yew Essence in Tribes of Midgard
Here’s the trick: Midnight Yew Essence is actually a resource that you can only get in the nighttime, once the sun has set. You can obtain it from chopping down Yew Trees with a lumberaxe after sunset, and you’ll be rewarded with one or two units of Midnight Yew Essence.
This can be a little tricky, as Yew Trees are more commonly found in the Land of Pools biome, which might be a bit far from your village, depending on the world seed.
In addition to that, considering that Helthings invade at night, you’ll need to head back to the village at some point to defend it. Because of this, we recommend farming for Midnight Yew Essence after you’ve beaten the first Jotunn as you’ll get a night off of invasions, giving you some free time to farm for it.
Either that, or have someone in your multiplayer group be responsible for gathering resources at night while the rest of the group defends the village.
