One of the main ways you’re going to find important resources in Outriders isn’t actually going to come from scavenging the land. Instead, you’ll get most of what you need by dismantling weapons and armor in the inventory screen of the game.

While your doing this, though, you’ll likely come upon some items that have a black lock symbol located in the top left of their detail page. This signifies that this item is locked gear.

Locked gear means that you aren’t able to break it down and dismantle it for parts. So is there any way to unlock it?

How to Unlock Locked Gear in Outriders

Currently, there is no way to unlock this type of gear in Outriders. The reason behind this is that the locked gear you’ll get in the game isn’t something that players can come upon naturally.

For example, the Hell’s Rangers preorder DLC gear is an exclusive item that players who preordered the game get as a reward for doing so. Trying to dismantle or sell it would mean that there is no other way to ever get the item back.

With that said, you can at least store locked gear if you’re sick of them taking up space. All you have to do is go to your Stash and place the item into the box.

It is also worth noting that you won’t be able to get your hands on the mods that are on locked gear either, as that is only achievable by breaking down and dismantling them.
