Destiny 2: Best Rocket Launchers for PvE, PvP, Gambit (2020)

Destiny 2: Best Rocket Launchers for PvE, PvP, Gambit (2020)

Rocket Launchers have had kind of an up and down history. For a while, they were the champion of PvE damage before the cluster bomb nerf, but now they are kind of regulated to PvP/Gambit with the rise of Grenade Launchers. In any event, let’s go over the best rocket launchers for PvE, PvP and Gambit in Destiny 2 in 2020 as of Beyond Light.

Best Rocket Launchers in Destiny 2

Best for PvE

  • Bad Omens (Power, Void) – Possible reward from completing Gambit matches and rank-ups.
  • Eyes of Tomorrow (Power, Solar, Exotic) – Rare drop from completing the final encounter in the raid, Deep Stone Crypt.
  • Deathbringer (Power, Void) – Obtained via exotic quest.
  • Subzero Salvo (Power, Arc) – Europan weapon obtained via weapon quests from Variks.
  • Wardcliff Coil (Power, Arc, Exotic) – Random rare exotic world drop.

Honestly, perhaps more than any other weapon type in Destiny 2, rocket launchers really just come down to perk preference. You usually want cluster bombs, even post nerf, and tracking is nice if you can get it (basically mandatory for PvP/Gambit) and besides that, it’s whatever you like.

Beyond Light has thrown in a few new perks that are interesting to rocket users though. Chain Reaction is one that can be found in the new weapon, Subzero Salvo, and that allows rocket explosions to chain and become even more destructive than usual.

The exotics can usually do some interesting things, but more or less have the same function: kill a lot of enemies at once.

Deathbringer, as its name implies, can erase an entire group of minors and majors very easily if used properly. If you can isolate an ultra and get all of the void projectiles to hit directly onto it, it can decent a good boss burner too.

What functions better, though, if you can get it is the new raid exotic, Eyes of Tomorrow which can easily track many enemies and do extremely high damage without having to perfectly time an attack like Deathbringer.

Bad Omens is one of the few survivors from sunsetting and is still one of the better rockets in the game thanks to its rich perk pool.
