demon's souls, stone of ephemeral eyes

Developed by From Software, Demon’s Souls was originally released for the PS3 about a decade ago. Bluepoint Games has since remade the game from the ground up, re-releasing it as a launch title for the PS5. The remake features tons of quality-of-life improvements and enhancements, but you’ll be glad to know that the core systems are still intact. Here’s how to farm Stones of Ephemeral Eyes in Demon’s Souls.

Farming Stone of Ephemeral Eyes in Demon’s Souls

In Demon’s Souls, you have access to two forms: human and soul. While in human form, you have access to your maximum HP bar, but if you die in human form, you’ll revive in soul form, which takes away a portion of your max HP. In order to regain human form, you’ll need to either defeat a boss or use an item called the Stone of Ephemeral Eyes.

While it’s possible to find the Stones as item pickups in the world, there’s only a finite number of that. That being said, it is possible to farm them if you know what you’re doing. We’ll go through a few farming methods in the game.

Saint Urbain and the Black Phantom

After defeating the Adjudicator, you’ll find Patches the Hyena in a nearby chamber waiting to kick you down into a pit. Once down there, you’ll meet Saint Urbain, who informs you that a black phantom is blocking the way out.

Killing the black phantom will reward you with a Stone of Ephemeral Eyes, but you can farm him repeatedly for it. To do this, kill Urbain, and each time you reload the area, the phantom will spawn again. You can also leave him alive and bring him to the Nexus if you need to learn his miracles, then kill him in the Nexus and the black phantom will spawn.

Do be warned that killing Urbain will shift your world tendency towards pure black. If you want to avoid that, you can also hit him until he turns hostile, and the farming method will still work.

Filthy Woman Merchant

Another way to get an infinite number of Stone of Ephemeral Eyes is by purchasing them from the Filthy Woman merchant located in 5-1 and 5-2 in the Valley of Defilement. Whenever you’re in soul form, she’ll have one Stone for sale. After you purchase it, you’ll need to die in human form in order to get her to sell another one.

One important thing to note is that the price will increase as your level goes up, so make sure you have enough souls to purchase them.

Killing Plague Babies

Finally, if your luck stat is high enough and you’ve got a decent item drop rate, you can farm Plague Babies in 5-3 in the Valley of Defilement. All you have to do is run into the swamp and start slashing away at them, but be careful of getting inflicted with plague.

It’s recommended that you do this in soul form and without any souls on you so that you can farm them repeatedly, and not have to worry too much about dying.

That’s all you need to know about how to farm Stone of Ephemeral Eyes in Demon’s Souls. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
