Spelunky 2: How to Use Bombs

Spelunky 2, How to Use Bombs

While there is a surprising amount of depth to what items you can unlock and how you can combine their effects in Spelunky 2, a few key ones will prove to be cornerstones of your adventuring toolkit. They won’t do you much good if you don’t know how to use them though, which is why we’re here to walk you through how to use bombs in Spelunky 2.

How to Use Bombs in Spelunky 2

Using bombs in Spelunky 2 is very straight forward, and functions much the same way as throwing objects.

All you need to do is press the Circle Button while you have at least one bomb in your inventory. This will launch an explosive in whatever direction you’re facing, which will then detonate after a few seconds of priming.

It’s important to note, though, that you can alter the angle at which you throw it. This is done by pressing and holding up or down on the D-Pad or Left Analogue Stick before pressing the Circle button. Doing so can be useful if you’re trying to angle your bomb into a tight space above you or if you’re trying to set the bomb down on a specific block below you.

How to Get Sticky Bombs

It’s also worth noting that you can upgrade your bombs in Spelunky 2.

Like in the first game, you can find an item known as Sticky Paste in shops and by defeating Giant Spiders. Once in your inventory, it’ll automatically be applied to any explosives you obtain, allowing them to stick to surfaces and more accurately detonate where you want them to.

You can also improve the blast radius of your bombs by buying the Power Pack from certain merchants. This will increase the radius of all the explosions you cause substantially and will allow you to deal much more damage to any enemies you catch in the blast range.

Hopefully, this cleared up how to use bombs in Spelunky 2. For more on the game, check out our review for our full thoughts on the long-awaited sequel.
