Patch 5.3 has finally dropped for Final Fantasy XIV and it’s a big one. This patch continues the NieR: Automata-themed Alliance raid story, the main Shadowbringers story itself, a rework of the ARR storyline, and also introduces a new dungeon for the Duty Roulette. Unlocking the Heroes’ Gauntlet Dungeon in FFXIV Patch 5.3
The good news is that The Heroes’ Gauntlet is a mandatory story dungeon that you have to do as you go through the main quests. With the latest patch installed, simply continue the main story quest and you’ll unlock the dungeon about partway through.
Specifically, you’ll unlock The Heroes’ Gauntlet once you reach the mission titled The Converging Light, which comes right after the solo duty introduced with this patch. One thing to note, though, is that this dungeon has a minimum required item level of 465, so you do need to keep your gear up to date if you want to jump straight into it.
If you’ve been doing your daily Roulettes regularly, you should have enough tomestones to trade in at Eulmore for better gear. Alternatively, you can also grind the Copied Factory Alliance raid for higher item level gear as well. Finally, if push comes to shove and you want to get gear quickly, you could always try your luck on the marketboard and see if you can pick up crafted equipment.
Either way, once you’ve hit item level 465, you’ll be able to queue up for it in the Duty Roulette like any other dungeon.
