Destiny 2’s meta goes through twists and turns as weapons rise in popularity and either counters are found, or Bungie ends up nerfing them. In this guide, we’re going to run through the best weapons to use in Destiny 2’s PvEvP game mode, Gambit. We’ll start with Legendary weapons and then dive into the best exotic weapons for Gambit as well.

In Gambit in Destiny 2, you need to consider your Prime role, and what kind of gameplay you’re going to be focusing on. Thus, the best legendary weapons for Gambit is heavily reliant on what kind of style of play you want to embrace.

For example, if you’re invading or want to counter invaders, sniper rifles such as Beloved are quite useful. Malfeasance is pretty much tailor made for Sentries to take out blockers ASAP.

And as long as you have spare ammo, it can be helpful for burning the primeval if you run out ammo for whatever you’re using in your power slot.

Izanagi’s Burden is not only excellent at DPSing the primeval, it also will one shot body shot invaders with 4x Honed Edge, making it a great dual threat choice in Gambit.

If you’re focusing on PvE or burning down the primeval, then the usual suspects such as Anarchy or Interference VI are great.

Weapons with Rampage are great in Gambit too, since you’re constantly fighting tightly packed groups of enemies. Breakneck in particular is an excellent add clearing weapon, and in general, if you’re not sure what you should use, bring something that can kill lots of enemies, really fast. Trinity Ghoul with its exotic catalyst is particularly fantastic at that.

Loaded Question is a great overall weapon to have around for Gambit since it’s halfway decent as an Invader/counter weapon, does decent boss/major damage, and most importantly, can annihilate groups of minors in an instant. All of the above can be said about Hammerhead as well.

Truth is one of the most broken weapons in Gambit right now for invaders. From across the map you can blow up just about anyone and clear out a group of players at the light in Gambit Prime. If you don’t have Truth, then Sleeper is still pretty good, especially with the catalyst.

Jotuun is also a great all around exotic that can be used effectively pretty much any situation. While it doesn’t burn primevals quite as fast as say Prospector, it’s more useful for clearing packs of minors and killing invaders.

Finally, Witherhorde is an extremely powerful grenade launcher that is especially effective on tanky boss enemies. It applies a powerful damage over time effect that is only rivaled by Anarchy. The plus side of Witherhorde over Anarchy potentially, though, is that Witherhorde is a kinetic weapon and is much easier to gather ammo for.
