Dark Pictures: Little Hope Delayed Into Fall 2020 Due to Covid-19 Precautions

Today via a press release Pete Samuels, CEO of Supermassive Games and executive producer of The Dark Pictures Anthology, announced today that the next title in the anthology, Little Hope, will be delayed to Fall 2020. It was originally targeting a Summer 2020 release window.

Samuels explained that since March the Supermassive Games team has had 200 members working from home in order to ensure the safety of the team during the outbreak of Covid-19. While Samuels called the transition a success, it presumably has slowed down development enough to facilitate a delay.

Further complicating things for Supermassive Games is their reliance on actors and stage crews to create the lifelike characters typical of their games. It shouldn’t come as a total shock then that Little Hope would be pushed back as it has.

Safety is the priority for Supermassive Games, as it should be for every business during a pandemic. Hopefully Fall 2020 stays on target, but I wouldn’t cozy up to the idea of playing Little Hope this fall until it’s in our hands. If the outbreak sees another resurgence, every video game company, not just Supermassive Games, may have to reevaluate their schedules.

In the meantime, you can check out what we thought of their last title, Man of Medan.
