If all goes well in the first eight parts of this challenge, then you’ll be able to get your hands on a Mewtwo that knows the attack Psystrike. But before we get way too far ahead of ourselves, here are all the steps and rewards for the Throwback Challenge:

  • Catch three grass-, water-, or fire-type Pokemon
    • 10 Poké Balls
  • Take a snapshot of a bug-type Pokemon
    • Five Pinap Berries
  • Catch a rock-type Pokemon
    • 500 Stardust
  • Completion Rewards: Onix encounter, One Rare Candy, Two Golden Razz Berries

Step (2/9)

  • Battle in a raid
    • Clefairy encounter
  • Transfer three Pokemon
    • 10 Super Potions
  • Catch one water-type Pokemon
    • 500 Stardust
  • Completion Rewards: Starmie encounter, One Rare Candy, Two Golden Razz Berries

Step (3/9)

  • Evolve 3 Pokemon
    • Three Great Balls
  • Hatch an egg
    • Snorlax encounter
  • Catch an electric-type Pokemon
    • 500 Stardust
  • Completion Rewards: Raichu encounter, One Rare Candy, Two Golden Razz Berries

Step (4/9)

  • Give your buddy a treat
    • Gastly encounter
  • Send a gift to a friend
    • Dratini encounter
  • Catch a grass-type Pokemon
    • 500 Stardust
  • Completion Rewards: Tangela encounter, One Rare Candy, Two Silver Pinap Berries

Step (5/9)

  • Earn a candy walking with your buddy
    • 10 Ultra Balls
  • Make three great throws
    • Chansey encounter
  • Catch a poison-type Pokemon
    • 500 Stardust
  • Completion Rewards: Weezing encounter, One Rare Candy, Two Golden Razz Berries

  • Take a snapshot of a ghost-type Pokemon
    • Hitmonchan encounter
  • Catch a fighting-type Pokemon
    • Lapras encounter
  • Catch a psychic-type Pokemon

  • Take a Snapshot of an Ice-type Pokemon
    • 10 Hyper Potions
  • Evolve a Pokemon
    • Aerodactyl encounter
  • Catch a Fire-type Pokemon
    • 500 Stardust
  • Completion Rewards: Arcanine Encounter, One Rare Candy, Two Golden Razz Berries

  • Power up a Pokemon six times
    • One Charged TM
  • Battle another trainer
    • One Star Piece
  • Catch a ground-type Pokemon
    • 500 Stardust
  • Completion Rewards: Nidoking encounter, One Rare Candy, Two Silver Pinap Berries

Step (9/9)

  • 3000 XP
  • 3000 XP
  • 3000 XP
  • Completion Reward: Mewtwo Encounter, 10 Rare Candies
