Item Seeds are one of Trials of Mana‘s more interesting mechanics, allowing you to nab good items without dropping large amounts of cash in the process. Figuring out exactly how to get them or use them can be unclear though, which is why we’re here to walk you through how to use Item Seeds and what they do in Trials of Mana with a guide.
How to Use Item Seeds & What They Do in Trials of Mana
Obtained through a variety of methods, Trials of Mana’s Item Seeds are far more useful than they might appear at first glance.
Though each variation of the item can be used as a minor consumable, their true value lies in being able to plant them in planter boxes at inns. Doing so will turn them into a random item, and planting rarer variants allows for a higher chance of getting more useful items added to your inventory.
Doing this is simple as well. All you need to do is interact with the orange planter box next to any inn keeper’s desk by pressing the X button. You’ll then be taken to a menu allowing you to choose which of your current assortment of Seeds you’d like to plant.
Where to Get Every Item Seed Type
Of course, this is all a moot point if you don’t know how to get Trials of Mana’s Item Seeds in the first place. Fortunately, this is also a simple matter.
In addition to being findable in chests and from gleam spots, most every enemy in the game has a chance of dropping them, with higher level enemies dropping better variants. Not only that, but the more you use the planter boxes, the higher their level will grow, increasing the drop rate of variants from their respective enemies.
We’ve laid out a table of which enemies drop which variants – and what each variant offers – down below for your reference.
Seed Type | Which Enemies Drop Them | What Items They Offer |
Item Seed | Early-Game Enemies | Low chance of rare items |
Silver Item Seed | Mid-Game Enemies | Moderate chance of rare items |
Gold Item Seed | Late-Game Enemies | High chance of rare items |
??? Item Seed | Late and End-Game Enemies | Class Change items |
Rainbow Item Seed | End-Game Enemies | Highest chance of rare items |
