Released about 10 years ago, Resident Evil 3 was one of the last few ‘classic’ games in the series before Capcom decided to take it towards a more action-oriented direction. With a brand new remake of the PS1 title, players get to step back into the shoes of Jill Valentine and explore Raccoon City before leaving it behind forever. If you’re wondering whether you can go back to the RPD in Resident Evil 3, here’s what you need to know.
Going Back to the RPD in Resident Evil 3
The Raccoon Police Department, or the RPD for short, was the centerpiece of the Resident Evil 2 experience. Considering that the events of Resident Evil 3 take place just before RE2, and is set within Raccoon City as well, you might be wondering if you can visit the RPD in this game too. The answer is, yes, but to a rather limited extent.
Do be warned that this article contains very minor spoilers for some story progression in the game, so look away if you want to go in completely fresh.
While playing as Jill, you will get to see the RPD about partway through the game. As she makes her way towards Kendo’s gun shop, you’ll be able to see the parking garage of the police station and even head down there, but the garage itself will be blocked off by a metal grate.
Later on, you’ll also get to play as Carlos for a short portion of the game. While playing as him, you’ll get to explore the police station properly. However, your access is limited to the main hall and the east wing, and you won’t be able to comb the entire place like you were able to in Resident Evil 2. Past this point, once you’re done with the Carlos segment, you won’t be able to return to the station, so make sure you grab everything you need before moving forward.
That’s all you need to know about whether you can return to the RPD in Resident Evil 3. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
