Is Mount & Blade 2 Multiplayer? Answered

First things first, let’s get one thing clear: Mount & Blade 2’s campaign is not playable co-operatively or versus another player competitively. There is no multiplayer option to experience the sandbox, kingdom-building gameplay of its single-player.

That doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen, though. Back in 2016, developer Taleworlds had expressed interest in the idea of building co-operative functionality into the campaign, so perhaps it’s something that could be implemented in the future? After all, the game is only in Early Access after a long, long development cycle.

As for what’s on offer now, there is a competitive multiplayer offering. Bannerlord expands on the skirmish-style competitive gameplay that has always been a staple of the series. Most of the modes that are featured in Warband return once again for Bannerlord. This includes:

  • Siege – Attackers besiege a castle manned by the defending team.
  • Team Deathmatch – Two teams continually fight until timer runs out.
  • Skirmish – Competitive 6v6 teams showdown on smaller-scale maps.
  • Captain – Lead six AI versus another player leading six AI.

For now, that’s everything there is to know about whether Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord is multiplayer. We’ll update this guide if more functionality is announced in the future.
