Coming alongside Uncharted 4 as April 2020’s PlayStation Plus free games, Dirt Rally 2.0 has got a lot of new players recently. Since some of your friends who also have it for free might be jumping into the rally action, it’ll be fun to race against them to see who can set the best time. So that you can race at the same time, here’s everything you need to know about how to play online with friends in Dirt Rally 2.0.
Since most of Dirt Rally 2.0 is rally stage focused, you won’t be able to do a whole lot of racing on the same tracks, other than in the small selection of rally cross events. Instead, you’ll have to compete at the same time to post the best time on individual stages.
How to Play Online With Friends in Dirt Rally 2.0
From the main menu, you need to head to the Freeplay tab, where you’ll find the online options and ways to play single stages away from the career mode.
From there, you need to select Custom and then Create Championship, which will start the process of setting up a competition you can take part in with your friends.
After you’ve added the events you want to race, press R1 if you’re on PS4 or RB on Xbox One to get over to the Lobby tab. Then, underneath your name you’ll see the option to invite friends.
Select that and after a message that says ‘Creating Session” appears, your friends list will pop up and you’ll be able to invite whichever friends you wish to play online with. Then, just wait for them to accept the invite and join your game and you’ll be ready to race.
