If you’ve been unclear on how to get a car in The Sims 4 on PS4 or Xbox One – or are simply wondering if you can even get cars at all – you’re not alone. That’s why we’re here to walk you through what you need to do to get your own set of wheels.
How to Get a Car in The Sims 4 on PS4 and Xbox One
As with the PC version of the Sims 4, you can’t simply buy a car in the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Instead, you’ll need to use cheats to either re-size a toy car or place a car that normally would be seen driving by your house.
It’s a bit of a hassle, but if you’re determined to have a vehicle of your own, it’s the only way out there.
For the first method, go into the Building menu and scroll down to the Chair image. Here, you’ll find decorations and furniture. From here, you can search “Model” to bring up a list of all of the Model Vehicles available to you. If you don’t have the Model Vehicle you’re looking for yet, continue to play through the game until you unlock more items to build.
Once you have the Model Vehicle you’re looking for, select it and place it on the map. Before placing the object though, hold down L2 and R2 on PS4 or LT and RT on Xbox One. Then, with these buttons held down, press Right on the D-Pad to activate the re-sizing cheat and make the model larger.
You can make the model as large as you’d like, and can re-size the Model Vehicle down to its original size at anytime by selecting it in Build mode, holding down the buttons mentioned above, and then hitting Left on the D-Pad.
Time needed: 2 minutes.
So, just to re-cap how to re-size Model Vehicles in The Sims 4 on PS4 and Xbox One:
- Go into the Building menu and scroll down to the Chair icon.
You’ll find furniture and decorations through this tab.
- Search “Model” to pull up all of the Model Vehicles you currently have unlocked.
If you don’t have a vehicle you want unlocked yet, continue playing through the game until you get it.
- Select the Model Vehicle to be placed on the map, and then re-size it.
This is done by holding down L2 and R2 on PS4 – or LT and RT on Xbox One – and then hitting Right on the D-Pad.
How to Use Cheats to Place Cars From the Game
As for placing cars that you see driving by your house in The Sims 4 on PS4 and Xbox One, it’s a bit more time intensive.
First, you’ll need to bring up the Cheats Menu while in Live Mode. While in Live Mode, press L1, L2, R1 and R2 at the same time on PS4. For Xbox One, you’ll need to hit LB, LT, RB and RT at the same time.
This will bring up the cheats menu. With it up, type in “testingcheats on” (without the quotation marks). Then, type in “bb.showhiddenobjects” (again, without the quotation marks). This will open up a menu of objects that you can’t normally place in the game, and allow you to place them for as long as cheats are active.
