How to Play as Gohan in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

I’ll admit, I’m not the DBZ expert here on staff at Twinfinite, but I do know a little something and I know that Gohan is the son of Goku and he’s quite popular and powerful in his own right even compared to his daddy.

It’s not a shock then that lots of people are wondering how to play as Gohan in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot.

Like other playable characters in the game, Gohan is unlocked during the story. Specifically, Gohan will be unlocked for you early on in the game during the Saiyan Saga.

It’s automatic and you won’t have a choice but to play with Gohan during certain moments of this saga. All the characters you can play with in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot are tied to moments in the story and you can’t switch between them when working through the story.

That said, in between sagas during intermissions you can switch through and play as any character you have unlocked.

During this intermission Gohan will have his own Skill Tree and Super Attacks, so you’ll need to go in and unlock that once you play as him. You can assign attacks and assists by opening the Character menu from the main menu, and then pressing X on Xbox One or Square on PS4 to open the Super Attack Palette.

That’s all you need to know for how to play as Gohan in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. For more tips, tricks and FAQs answered be sure to visit our ever growing wiki guide which will be updated with new guides as we progress further into the game.
