The Lancer GL is the third iteration of the popular assault rifle that we’ve seen in every entry of the Gears of War series. New to Gears 5, the Lancer GL replaces the chainsaw bayonet with a grenade launcher for a bit more of explosive firepower. Here’s how to use the Lancer GL’s grenade launcher in Gears 5.
Using the Lancer GL’s Grenade Launcher in Gears 5
Just like the normal Lancer’s chainsaw bayonet, the grenade launcher is tied to the RB button on Xbox One. You don’t just tap it, though, as that will trigger an active reload, but instead, you’re going to hold it.
This will result in your character aiming down the weapon’s sights and bringing up a laser sight. All you need to do now is aim at your target with the laser sight, and let go of RB.
This should result in the grenade firing off into the air, before essentially dropping a mortar of explosive from above on the enemy you targeted.
Lancer GL’s Laser Sight Color
If when you’re lining up your laser sight with your enemy and it goes red, you’re not going to be able to fire off the grenade launcher. Essentially, that’s because, for whatever reason, the gun thinks there is either something blocking the way, or the target is too close to you for the launcher to actually work.
As such, you’ll always want to make sure you’re giving yourself plenty of space between you and your target and that the laser is blue and not red before letting go of RB.
