Final Fantasy XIV Passes 20 Million Registered Players; Update 5.3 Trailer Revealed

Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XIV has passed a new milestone for its registered players count. A trailer of the next update was also released.

Today Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XIV has passed a new milestone regarding its registered players count.

According to the announcement, the game has now passed 20 million players. The latest update was in December with Square Enix announcing 18 million players.

The trailer, which you can enjoy below, introduce the upcoming update 5.3, which is coming on August 11.

You can watch it below both in English and Japanese depending on your voice-over preference. A few official screenshots are also available at the bottom of the post.

It’s worth mentioning that this counts every account ever created for the game, and it doesn’t indicate the number of currently-active players. That being said, it’s still a very impressive milestone considering that Final Fantasy XIV is one of the few remaining MMORPGs requiring a subscription.
