Wolfenstein Youngblood: How to Beat Ubergarde (Brother 1, 2, 3)

wolfenstein youngblood, beat ubergarde

Wolfenstein Youngblood sees you take control of B.J Blazkowicz’s teenage daughters in co-op action, and the aim of most of the game is to infiltrate three bases called Brother 1, 2, and 3 to find out where their father is. Each base is protected by a formidable enemy called an Ubergarde, though. So that you can beat them quickly, here’s everything you need to know about how to beat Ubergarde enemies (Brother 1, 2, and 3) in Wolfenstein Youngblood.

First of all, there’s a tip that works for all Ubergarde enemies in the Brother missions in Wolfenstein Youngblood.

At the start of each Brother mission, you’ll be led to picking up one of the three power weapons in the game: Laserkraftwerk, Dieselkraftwerk, and Electrokraftwerk.

Each Ubergarde is weak to the power weapon that you pick up at the start of their mission.

So, when you first get to the fight with them, unload everything you have in the weapon you’ve just picked up, being sure not to use all the ammo on standard enemies earlier in the mission.

Ammo for all three of them is pretty scarce, so don’t waste it, but they are all very useful when used at the right time. Here are some more tips on each individual fight, though.

Beating the Ubergarde in Brother 1 in Wolfenstein Youngblood

For the first Brother Ubergarde in Wolfenstein Youngblood, it’s the stage rather than the enemy that’s tricky. With it being one open area with low platforms around the edge, you’ll be tempted to just run around.

Rotating lasers alternate between the main floor and the surrounding platforms, so you’ll have to keep moving around if you stay low and the lasers can be quite deadly.

However, on the main floor, there are a load of pillars, and these pillars have small platforms on them that you can stand on and jump between.

If you get on one of these, near the Brother 1 Ubergarde, and shoot him from there, you won’t have to worry at all about the floor lasers. You’ll be able to move around the pillars to protect yourself and jump between them when the enemy moves.

There are some smaller enemies to contend with, but nothing major and one of you can deal with them while the other focuses on the big guy.

Also, you’ll want to make use of any Laserkraftwerk ammo you have. You can’t carry much, so it might not do a whole lot of damage, but use what you have left.

By staying on the platforms as much as you can, you can blast away at the Ubergarde without having to worry about what else is going on. Once he’s down, you can look for the Uber-Commanders and take them down to get the keys you need.

Brother 2 Ubergarde

The second Ubergarde in Wolfenstein Youngblood was the one I had the most issues with, most of which were due to the large open area that the fight takes place in.

His armor is weak to the weapons that attack small white blocks, so the likes of the shotgun weapon and the Deiselkraftwerk that you get at the beginning of the Brother 2 mission are what you want to stick to.

The issue with that is that it means that most ranged weapons that pack any kind of punch are petty useless.

The shotgun will do the most damage to the Ubergarde’s shield, but you need to be up close for it to be effective and the big guy’s laser weapon is brutal if you get too close to him.

The best thing to do, therefore, is to take advantage of the two hangars on the side near the entrance to the fight area. The Ubergarde cannot get in and there’s some armor, ammo, and health there should you need it.

You’ll be able to pop out, blast the Brother 2 bad guy with what you have, then run back inside to regroup and get what you can for the next assault.

All the while, you’ll be attacked by smaller enemies that can be quite annoying. There’ll be drones, Super Soldiers, and standard enemies, all of which distract from the main aim of the mission.

Ignore them when you can, focus in on the big guy, and then run back inside to take out a few of the little ones.

It’ll likely take you longer to beat this Ubergarde than the other two in Wolfenstein Youngblood, but with a bit of patience, you shouldn’t have too many issues.

Ubergarde in Brother 3 in Wolfenstein Youngblood

While the actual Brother 3 Ubergarde is probably the easiest of the three to defeat, the other factors at play in the fight make it pretty tough.

You’ll be able to knock a healthy amount of its armor away (small white blocks rather than blue filled ones) pretty quickly because only a few other enemies will be around to distract you.

He’s pretty formidable, firing all manner of fire, lasers, and electrical beams at you, but running around and using the walkways on either side should make the first two-thirds of the fight pretty easy.

However, once you’ve knocked most of his shield away, a bunch of powerful enemies will spawn and begin to attack you. There’ll be multiple heavy Super Soldiers and one of the larger fire breathing dogs.

It’s difficult to know where to fight them though because going inside the rooms on the left of the Brother 3 stage will see you overwhelmed by fire and the smaller bad guys, but going into the open will see you face the Ubergarde but be able to escape the fire.

The other problem here is that the other sister will become a real issue if you’re playing alone. In the enclosed areas, Jess/Soph have a tendency to like chilling in the middle of the danger.

If she dies, you fail and start the whole Brother 3 mission from the underground station at the start, so you have to revive her whenever she’s downed. Try running back out into the open area and up the stairs to the platform at the side.

There’s glass in the way, so the Ubergarde can’t get you, and the enemies will be funneled by the stairs.

Also, from the start, be sure to take note of the general Ubergarde fight tip and use the Electrokraftwerk weapon you found at the beginning of the Brother 3 mission.

The big guy’s weakness is to that weapon, so just blast it with everything its got as soon as you get into the room.

If you unload a full Electrokraftwerk and Deiselkraftwerk clip into it, he’ll be down to one-third health in no-time and the more annoying small enemies will appear.

Then focus on the dog enemy, aiming for the fuel tanks on its sides. The fire is really annoying, so try to take it out as quickly as possible.

You can then blast through the Super Soldiers before heading back out to take on the Brother 3 Ubergarde and get the keys from the officers.

That’s everything you need to know about how to beat Ubergarde (Brother 1, 2, and 3) in Wolfenstein Youngblood.
