Following the latest reveal on the weekly Famitsu magazine, Square Enix released a sizable gallery of new screenshots of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake.
The screenshots showcase various elements of the game including event cutscenes and the battle system.
The battle system encourages you to identify weaknesses and action patterns of the enemies and select magic and abilities accordingly. It combines intuitive actions with the ability to tactically select actions from a command menu.
The game includes seamless transition between exploration and battles, the ability to change characters with the press of a button or to give them commands without needing to switch at all.
Characters have their unique playstyles. Cloud is good at close range while Barret is better at range. On the other hand, Aerith is proficient with magic.
Battle commands such as Ability, Magic, and Item can be selected by consuming the accumulated ATB gauge, which slows down the flow of time. Elements from the original game including limit breaks, summons, and materia have been preserved. The screenshots showcase Aerith’s limit break Healing Wind and Cloud’s Cross Slash.
We also get to see locations including the entrance of the Shinra Headquarters, the train to the Sector 7 Slums Station, and the LOVELESS Theater in Sector 8.
Last, but not least, we get another look at the bike Play Arts Kai Cloud Strife & Hardy Daytona action figure included in the 1st Class Edition and also sold separately.

If you want to see and learn more of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, you can check out plenty of new details from Director Tetsuya Nomura himself, the recent gameplay reveal and trailers, another from a few weeks ago, and a beautiful piece of concept artwork showing off Sephiroth, and some crazy-detailed character images featuring the protagonists.
You can also read more information about the voice and subtitle options that will be included in the game. Last, but not least you should enjoy all the details our very own Ed Mcglone learned while playing the demo at E3 2019 and read his first hands-on preview and the second. He liked the game so much that he had to write two of them.
The first game of the Final Fantasy VII Remake will launch on PS4 on March 3, 2020. No other platforms have been announced so far.
