Fortnite Season 8 End Date & Season 9 Start Date

Fortnite Season 8 End Date

Following the introduction of overtime challenges in Season 7 which saw it extended over the usual 10-week duration for a season in Fortnite, some may be a little unsure as to whether Season 8 will also be extended. From what Epic Games has shared with us so far, this doesn’t look to be the case.

Earlier this week, Epic Games shared a post over on the official Fortnite site regarding the end date for the Account Merge feature. In it, Epic Games hinted at when players can expect Season 8 to end.

“We wanted to give everyone a heads up that the Account Merge feature will be coming to an end on May 6, two days before Season 9 begins.” As such, we can deduce from this that Season 8 will stick to the usual 10-week duration that we’ve seen in past seasons and won’t include overtime challenges. This means that the Fortnite Season 8 end date will be Tuesday, May 7.

This date is also reinforced in-game on the Battle Pass screen, which indicates that at the time of writing on May 3, there are only days left in the current season. You can check this out in the screenshot above.

That being said, it is expected there will be some Season 8 overtime challenges to help tide players over between now and the end of Season 8. We’ll have a complete guide for how to complete all of these once they go live, which is expected to be later today.

Fortnite Season 9 Start Date

With Season 8 ending on May 7, that means that Fortnite Season 9’s start date will officially be May 8. Exactly what we can expect to feature in the new season remains to be seen, but if Epic Games continues its usual trend of teasing the new season, players can expect to start seeing teaser images dropping via the official Fortnite Twitter account as of this weekend on either May 4 or May 5.
