How to Beat the Embermane in Dauntless

Not to be confused with the Lesser Embermane you hunted near the start of the game, the regular Embermane is a much more ferocious beast and can be tricky to deal with if you’re not used to its patterns.

It has an affinity with the Fire element, but is weak to Frost-based damage, so if you have any Frost weapons or mods, now would be a good time to bust them out. Just make sure your weapons aren’t Fire-based, or you’ll deal very little damage to it.

Strategy

The key to beating the Embermane in Dauntless is to simply know how to interrupt its attacks.

During its regular phase, you should be able to skirt around it consistently and avoid its frontal attacks. However, once the Behemoth leaps away from you, it’s time to get ready for its pounce.

Once the Embermane leaps away and looks back at you, you’ll want to charge your attack and hit it right as it’s pouncing towards you. Get the timing right, and you’ll be able to interrupt the pounce attack and get more hits in.

This can be done with most weapon types, but heavier weapons like the Axe will be more effective for interruptions.

When the Behemoth is enraged, its patterns will remain largely the same, with one exception. When it gets ready to pounce again, the Embermane will roar and start pelting fireballs towards you.

Once the fireballs are out, it’ll pounce as usual, so be ready to interrupt that attack.

One more thing to note about this fight: if you do get caught on fire, make sure to roll around to put the fire out.

That’s all you need to know about how to beat the Embermane in Dauntless. Be sure to check our Dauntless guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
