How to Complete the Red & White Pinwheel Quest in Sekiro

Recommended Videos

As you journey through the land of Ashina in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, you’ll inevitably stumble upon a few cryptic key items. Here’s how to complete the Pinwheel quest in Sekiro.

Starting the Pinwheel Quest

When you first arrive at Senpou Temple, if you venture off the beaten path you’ll find a monk named Kotaro crying at a tree. He’ll tell you that he’s looking for a white flower.

At this point, you can continue your journey through Senpou Temple, and you’ll eventually find the Red and White Pinwheel on a cliff with all the Jizo statues. Continue past the Shugendo path, and you’ll find the White Pinwheel standing alone on another side cliff.

If you go back to Kotaro, you’ll then have the option of giving him either the Red and White Pinwheel, or the White Pinwheel itself.

Sending Kotaro to the Merchant or Surgeon

If you choose to give Kotaro the Red and White Pinwheel, you’ll essentially get the ‘bad’ or non-canon ending to the Pinwheel quest.

Assuming you’ve already spoken to Anayama at Ashina Outskirts, or Doujun at the Abandoned Dungeon, they’ll both inform you that they’re looking for healthy men to help them out. Anayama wants someone to help him collect weapons and items from the battlefield, while Doujun is looking for someone to experiment on.

If you send Kotaro to Anayama, his stock will improve, and you’ll have more items to buy. If you send him to Doujun, well, you’re in for a bit of a morbid ride.

Divine Abduction

On the other hand, if you give Kotaro the White Pinwheel, you’ll get the ‘good’ ending to the Pinwheel quest.

After you hand over the item, Kotaro will ask you to spirit him away. You’ll need the Divine Abduction Prosthetic Tool to do this. The Tool itself can be found right after the Gun Fort Sculptor’s Idol in the Sunken Valley.

Hold down the R2 button to charge it up and spirit him away, and you’ll find him in the Hall of Illusions, where you fought the Folding Screen Monkeys.

That’s all you need to know about how to complete the Pinwheel quest in Sekiro. Be sure to check our Sekiro guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
