To cut straight to the point: Rick Devens was the castaway who got voted off tonight in Survivor 38.
Even after the tribe swap and the expansion to three tribes, the original Manu tribe members were still unable to secure a win.
Expanding to Three Tribes in Survivor 38: Edge of Extinction
The original Manu and Kama tribe names were still intact, but Survivor 38 introduced a new third tribe called Lesu. On this tribe, we had David, Rick, Wentworth, Wardog, and Lauren. Wendy had been the odd one out this entire time, but she remained on the original Manu tribe and was joined by Aubry, Victoria, Eric, and Gavin.
During the immunity challenge, all three tribes were cutting it pretty close, but it was Kama that secured the first win before they started cheering on the Manu tribe and their old teammates.
Tribal Council
Before Lesu actually went to tribal, Rick and David decided to put their votes on Lauren. The pair had been tight since day one, and they felt it would be in their best interests to vote out Lauren, who had been sick and refusing to eat.
On the other hand, Wentworth and Lauren decided that Rick was the bigger social threat who needed to go. Both pairs approached Wardog as the swing vote, and ultimately, he opted to vote with Wentworth and Lauren.
During tribal council, all five tribe members expressed sadness at having to vote someone out as they had established a bond through all their trials and tribulations. Despite getting kicked off the tribe, Rick was still positive about the experience and wished them all the best.
At the end of the episode, Rick opted to stay in the game by going to Extinction Island.
