How to Turn on Generator and Open Dam Door in Metro Exodus
As you explore the larger open levels in Metro Exodus, you will have to solve some puzzles to get to the next area of the mission. One of the most confusing comes towards the end of the game. Here’s everything you need to know about how to turn on the generator and open the dam door in Metro Exodus.
Towards the end of the ‘The Taiga’ mission, you’ll enter the dam via a tunnel, to get to where Alyosha is waiting to help you get to where the Aurora (the train in Metro Exodus) is parked.
Once you’ve battled past the spiders and got closer to the top of the dam in Metro Exodus, you’ll come across a big metal door, with the handle to open it on the right. It won’t open, though, because there’s no power. You’ll flick the switch down, and then up again, without it doing anything.
How to Turn on the Generator in Metro Exodus
You may have already come across it on the next level down, but there’s a generator in a little room, but it won’t turn on either. You’re not told how to get it working, but you need it powered up to open the door.
You need fuel to power generators in Metro Exodus, which is found in red fuel canisters. There’s one by the generator, but if you press square to pick it up, you’ll find that it’s empty.
The one you want is actually by the door you’re trying to open, on the floor next to it. Grab that fuel, take it back to the generator, put the fuel in by pressing square, and the power will come on.
How to Open the Dam Door
Once the generator is up and running in Metro Exodus, you will be able to open the dam door. Head back up the set of metal stairs, interact with the handle on the right of the door by pressing square.
This will see the light on the box turn green and the door will open. You’re not at the top of the dam just yet, but you’ve got the tricky part out of the way.
