Can You Get Alternate Costumes for Characters in Jump Force?

While the base costumes and outfits for the many fighters in Jump Force are all well and good, players are probably wondering: Can you get alternate costumes for characters in Jump Force?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. None of the fighters from pre-established series in the game can have alternate costumes; full costume swaps, color variations or otherwise. Created characters are the only ones who players can swap out the costume for.

Why Can’t You Get Alternate Costumes for Characters?

The reason for this design choice is most likely a technical one.

Due to the sheer volume of characters in Jump Force – and their varying design styles, aesthetics and body builds – designing the character models that are currently available likely took a considerable amount of effort and development time to produce.

This is to say nothing of the battle damage a character shows after taking enough hits, which would only increase the amount of time and effort needed to produce each character’s design.

As such, producing multiple costumes for each character, which would also show realistic battle damage based on how much damage they sustain during fights, would have added a hefty chunk of development time and strain onto the project.

To that end, Bandai Namco Entertainment and developer Spike Chunsoft understandably vied for a more limited character costume roster to get Jump Force out faster.

Will There Ever Be Alternate Costumes for Characters in Jump Force?

With that said, the idea of alternate costumes for characters being added into the game as DLC isn’t entirely crazy. Many fighting games add in character costumes after release for a nominal fee.

Plus, given Jump Force’s general popularity in Japan and among anime fans around the world since release, such a move would likely be a wise one, albeit a costly one for fans who want to dress Goku, Naruto, or any other character in their costume of choice.

Hopefully this cleared up whether you can get alternate costumes for characters in Jump Force. For more tips, tricks and info tied to the game, check out our Jump Force guide wiki.
