Far Cry New Dawn Story Explained
Working With New Eden
When Cap journeys north to find New Eden, they find themselves on a small island where they start seeing visions of Joseph himself. Cap is then forced to wander around the island, and listens as Joseph explains what his role used to be in Hope County.
We eventually reach the bunker where the Deputy had first begun their journey in Far Cry 5, and though we don’t find out what happened to them, we do get a glimpse at Joseph’s Diary.
In the diary, Joseph mentions that the Deputy was completely wracked with guilt and he had considered ending their life. Instead, Joseph decided to ‘forgive’ the Deputy and gradually try to show him God’s plan. Cap finds the book, The Word of Joseph, in the bunker, and takes it to New Eden’s hideout in an effort to win their trust.
At the hideout, we learn that Joseph isn’t there, and his son Ethan is in charge of the group. Ethan is a rather power-hungry leader, and tells Cap to journey further north to bring back irrefutable proof that Joseph is dead, just so that the group would stop clinging on to the belief that Joseph is a messiah and would listen to Ethan instead.
In exchange, Ethan promises to help Cap against the Highwaymen.
When Cap journeys north, they find Joseph, who shows him the secret of the island. Up north, there is a very special fruit that grants superhuman abilities to whoever eats it. The catch is that they have to be chosen by God. If not, anyone who eats it would be corrupted instead. Joseph grants this power to Cap, believing that they are the chosen one, and the two go back to New Eden.
Back there, Joseph assumes leadership once more, and Ethan feels betrayed. Joseph explains that it is not God’s plan for Ethan to be leader, and he is not meant to have the fruit. Joseph promises to help Cap with the Highwaymen.
