Square Enix has announced a 10th-anniversary livestream for the Dissidia Final Fantasy series, celebrating a decade of the Final Fantasy spinoff. The stream will focus on new updates for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, both in arcades and on PS4, as well as look back on previous entries of the series.
You can watch the entire stream over on YouTube, and it’ll take place at 6:00pm JST (1:00am PT) on December 18. Of course, keep in mind that the stream will be entirely in Japanese. Presenters will include NT producer Ichiro Hazama, director Takeo Kujiraoka, and more.
The original Dissidia Final Fantasy originally launched on PSP in Dec. 2008, in Japan. It featured heroes and villains from across the series in a brand new arena-style fighting game, that also told an original story introducing two powerful gods locked in an eternal struggle, Chaos and Cosmos. The game subsequently arrived in the west on PSP in August 2009.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT has received a number of add-on characters including Vayne Solidor from FFXII, Locke from FFVI, Rinoa from FFVIII, Kam’lanaut from FFXI, and most recently Yuna from FFX. There’s still one more additional character to be announced for the game, a male character from the latter half of the series.
It’s likely that we’ll see the final character announcement here, but it remains to be seen just what updates Square Enix has in store.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is currently available on PlayStation 4.
