This year, Microsoft has been acquiring studios left and right, ramping up for next generation. One of those studios is Ninja Theory, developer of 2013’s DMC: Devil May Cry and the more recent, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. An interview between Inside Xbox host, Julia Hardy, and Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, may have given us a hint as to when we’ll hear about Ninja Theory’s next game.
During the interview, Phil stated, “It’s really fun to not only see what Ninja Theory has done in the past, but to look forward to next year and things that might come.”
Phil hinted that we may hear from Ninja Theory as early as next year, regarding their upcoming project. Will it be a sequel to Hellbalde or something in the style of Devil May Cry? We’ll have to wait and see.
Ninja Theory has always excelled at fast-paced action games, but after what they accomplished with Hellblade, we have full faith that they can probably master anything they try, so maybe they’ll do something totally different.
The British developer made a name for themselves early on with their PS3 exclusive, Heavenly Sword, so it’s interesting to see them come completely around, as they’re now owned by Microsoft.
Microsoft has also recently announced they purchased developers, Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment adding to their repertoire of exclusive studios.
We will keep you updated as more information comes out about Ninja Theory’s next project.
