Adi Shankar, the producer behind the animated Castlevania series on Netflix, is confirmed to be working on another television series adaptation of a popular video game series. According to a story by The Wrap, Shankar is currently in talks to produce a series based on Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda franchise.
Although Nintendo has yet to comment on this adaptation of one of their most well-known franchises, we couldn’t help but come up with a few things that need to happen with Shankar’s series. The man has done such a stand-up job with the Castlevania series, so we think there’s a likelihood that a Zelda series can prosper and reach critical acclaim just as Castlevania has.
Things That Need to Happen With The Legend of Zelda Series
Please, No Live-Action
Everyone seems to be turning every video game franchise that we know and love into full-length live-action films, but we seem to never get animated adaptations such as the recent Castlevania Netflix series. The Legend of Zelda games ooze with charm, wonder, beautiful colors, and fantasy, so turning that into a boring, lifeless, realistic setting would mess up everything that Zelda is about.
Just look at how gorgeous Hyrule appears to be in Breath of the Wild, as well as the character animations. Zelda’s never looked or sounded better and seeing this art style in an anime format would be for the best and would just look plain cool. If Adi Shankar were to turn Breath of the Wild into an anime just like he did with Castlevania then you leave little to no room of error. I don’t know who would want a live-action version of Zelda, but those people are wrong.
