Is There Homologation in Forza Horizon 4? What You Need to Know
Forza Horizon 4 is the latest open world racing game hot off the press from Playground Games. The team has done an excellent job in delivering a rendition of the United Kingdom for players to cruise around in painstakingly detailed cars. If you’re looking for an open world racer, there’s no better game you can pick up right now if you ask us. One of the things, however, that rubbed some fans the wrong way in Forza Motorsport 7 was the introduction of homologation. Unsurprisingly, some players are wondering whether or not homologation is in Forza Horizon 4 once again. Here’s everything you need to know, including a quick breakdown on exactly what it is.
In case this long, weird-looking word is confusing you, let’s run down what homologation is. This is essentially performance restrictions that were introduced in Forza Motorsport 7 to enable a car to compete in a particular event.
For example, certain restrictions on tire compound, tire width, and power may be put in place. Nobody wants an unbalanced race, after all. This resulted in many Forza Motorsport 7 drivers tuning and upgrading their cars, only to find they couldn’t use them in a number of division-restricted races. You can imagine, then, that some players may be hoping it doesn’t rear its head in Forza Horizon 4.
Well, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Homologation is not in Forza Horizon 4. In fact, it has never been a part of the Forza Horizon series. In a post over on the Forza Motorsport forums, Turn 10 Studios Community Support Engineer, Nitro Glitter, confirmed this. “We do not have homologation in any of the Forza Horizon titles.”
This means that you’re free to upgrade, tune, and tweak your cars to your heart’s content in Forza Horizon 4. Sure, they might move up into another car class, but as long as you can keep up with the competition, it doesn’t matter all that much.
