Visit Spider, and Master the New Economy

Destiny 2’s post game economy is very different from what it was prior to Forsaken. Tokens are still around in some ways, but emphasized more, and in its place are planetary materials, Legendary Shards, and Masterwork Cores. Your routine for getting, and upgrading gear is different now.

You’ll need to make regular trips to Spider, your buddy on The Tangled Shore. In addition to bounties (which we’ll get to in just a second), he also deals in… well, the three things we just mentioned above. Every day, you should visit Spider and buy at least one Masterwork Core for the low price of 10 Legendary Shards. It’s worth it because Masterwork Cores are very hard to get otherwise. However, try to avoid buying more than one because he jacks the price up until the daily reset. If you need to, you can also dump glimmer into planetary materials to save some time farming, however you’ll still probably going to need to farm occasionally if you infuse a lot.

Farming for planetary materials is way easier with a Ghost that detects caches which contain two planetary materials each. Have one for each location. Did you dismantle one that you need? You can go into the Collections tab and pay to restore it if you need to.

Finally, bounties are not only back, they are very important. Bounties often have really solid rewards such as Glimmer (that again you can dump into materials you need at Spider’s hangout), Legendary Shards, and even Legendary Gear and Powerful Engrams.
