Spider-Man’s main story has a ton of epic moments that fans are sure to enjoy every last moment of, but you won’t see all of the best moments if you don’t go and explore the rest of the side content Manhattan has to offer.
One of the first things you should do if you’re looking for more web-swinging action are the side missions, which can be tracked down by looking for the blue diamonds on your map.
While they’re not quite as lengthy or varied in gameplay as the main missions, some of the side missions in the game are great fun and often allow for Spider-Man’s more comical and lighthearted side to take center stage.
There’s also a trophy for completing all side missions in the game, too, so there’s that!
Complete Taskmaster’s Challenges

Once you progress to a certain point within Spider-Man’s story, a number of challenges will unlock across the map. Marked by an orange circle, these challenges will test your combat, stealth, traversal, and bomb disposal skills.
Each one has up to three challenge tokens up for grabs if you can beat the high score, which will come in handy for unlocking some of the awesome-looking suits in the game.
Not only that, it’ll allow you to face off and defeat Taskmaster. By completing a few of the challenges, you’ll initiate a first encounter, but to truly defeat him, you’ll need to clear all of Taskmaster’s challenges first.
Again, there’s a trophy for defeating Taskmaster, so if you’re looking at getting as many trophies as possible, this is another fairly easy one to tick off. Especially when you’ve got our handy guide to help!
Complete Black Cat Challenges

Another villain who briefly shows up in Spider-Man PS4 is Black Cat. Her challenges are a little different to the usual gameplay in the game, as you’ll have to look down a camera lens and try and find a hidden black cat figurine somewhere within the environment.
These do vary in difficulty, but never take too long to finish. Plus, once you’ve pieced together the mystery of what she’s up to, you’ll get a pretty sweet reward that’s well worth some quick puzzles. And yes, there’s a trophy for completing all of these, too.
Because virtual baubles make everything that little bit better.
Grab All the Backpacks

If you’re a completionist when it comes to open world video games, Spider-Man PS4, of course, features some typical collectibles that you’ll no doubt be prepared for. The main collectible in the game are old school backpacks that Peter lost over the years of being Spider-Man.
Fortunately, he left some RFID trackers inside them, and after activating the radio towers in the game, you’ll be able to see all of the backpack locations appear on your map.
The particularly neat thing about the backpacks is that each one contains a little easter egg of sorts for fans. Some give glimpses into the life of Peter Parker, whereas others contain trinkets of Spider-Man’s encounters with villains in the past.
Each backpack you find also grants you a backpack token that can be used for crafting suits, gadgets, upgrades, and suit mods, so they’re well worth grabbing early on to keep you ahead of the curve.
Perfect Your Combat Skills in the Hideouts and Bases

Spider-Man PS4’s combat is so intuitive that you’ll be pulling off satisfying combos and stealthy takedowns with ease.
It’s easy enough to breeze through the main story in Spider-Man PS4, but if you’re really looking to put your combat skills to the test, you’ll want to look out for the Fisk bases, Demon hideouts, Prisoner camps, and Sable bases that’ll appear on your map as you progress through the story.
While each is slightly different in one way or another, they largely revolve around you beating down six consecutive waves of enemies and surviving until the end.
Clearing each one grants you some base tokens as a reward, but clearing the bonus objectives can grant you even more, which can come in particularly handy for unlocking your favorite late game Spidey suit.
Not to mention, they’re pretty fun to complete, and give you the perfect opportunity to try out different gadget combos or suit powers.
Do Some Lab Work

Spider-Man PS4 isn’t all about your favorite neighborhood Spider-suited hero, it’s also about the normal life of Peter Parker. His part-time job, his personal relationships, and personal dilemmas.
Throughout the story, you’ll need to complete some little lab-based minigames in order to help Peter’s boss achieve his vision. However, what the game doesn’t remind you of very often is that there are 10 of each of the spectrograph and circuit minigames for you to complete that unlock as you progress through the story.
Not only are these a nice change of pace, but some are a little more challenging than the simple ones you had to complete in the story.
They also grant XP and research tokens, and there’s yet another easy trophy up for grabs for completing all of the lab-based minigames, so get your ass over there!
Go Sightseeing and Take Photos

Another form of crafting currency you’ll need in Spider-Man PS4 are landmark tokens. These can be earned by going about Manhattan, and looking out for the pale blue icons that appear on your map upon activating the radio tower for that particular area.
Once you reach the destination, you’re looking out for that particular real-life (for the most part) iconic building or landmark.
Press Up on the d-pad, L2 to zoom in on it, and R1 to snap the photo when the camera HUD goes green.
Sure, you could go about, taking wonderful photos of each one that perfectly encapsulate their prowess in the Manhattan landscape.
Or you could turn them into a checkpoint race around Manhattan, snapping photos as you freefall through the skies, before flinging yourself down the street towards the next nearby landmark.
Sure, the actual photo doesn’t look good, but there’s definitely something satisfying in clearing out all those icons on your map with blistering pace.
Clear All Crime in the City

Once you’ve cleared out all of the radio towers of the interference and have managed to secure the signal for the police, you’ll also gain access to communications across the network of any nearby crimes going on.
By pressing R3, and generally listening to any radio chatter you hear while exploring Manhattan, you’ll be able to find red hazard icons on your map indicating a crime that’s going down.
These can vary from shoot-outs with the police, drug deals, stolen car getaways, assaults, robberies, and plenty more.
Spider-Man isn’t just about the big criminals as we all well know, and Insomniac Games has ensured that you can even clear the city of these more minor offenses.
By opening up your map, you’ll be able to find out how many crimes there are in each area, associated to each of the different factions. Just continue to swing about each district of Manhattan, and these will all eventually pop-up.
Go and clear them out and make sure that Manhattan is clear of all crime.
Get All of the Spidey Suits

If you’ve been going through our list as a checklist, ticking things off as you go, you’ll likely have noticed you’ve got almost nothing left to do in Spider-Man PS4. One of the main things left to do is to ensure you’ve got the full Spider-Man suit collection.
This will require doing many of the things we’ve already mentioned in order to get the necessary amount of tokens to craft them all.
One of the trickiest things you’ll need to do to get all of the suits in Spider-Man PS4, however, involves those darn Taskmaster Challenges. You’ll need to get at least two tokens from most of them, and ideally three on a good few.
Fail to do so, and you’ll forever be left wanting a few of the suits available in the game. Plus, there’s one suit you cannot unlock without basically 100%’ing the game, so best get to it!
Max Out Spider-Man

On the off chance you’ve yet to max out Spider-Man while completing the post game content and have an abundance of spare skill points still to spend, go ahead and do it.
Once you reach level 50 in Spider-Man PS4, you’ve officially hit the max level cap, and so you’ll be able to buy every last skill in the three trees.
It’s best to try and get this done before tackling most of the other post game activities and side content in Spider-Man PS4, just so you’ve got something to use all of your newfound abilities on.

There’s also a trophy going for unlocking all of the skills in the game, which will help you nicely for our very last suggestion.
Clear Up for the Platinum Trophy

If you’ve gone ahead and cleared the entirety of our list up until this point, you’ve probably got, at most one or two trophies left to get in Spider-Man PS4 until the coveted platinum trophy is all yours.
So why not just put in the last bit of effort and give your trophy score a nice bump. After all, what’s left to clear really isn’t all that tricky.
From our experience with Spider-Man PS4, we’re predicting you’ve likely got trophies such as paying respects at Uncle Ben’s grave, knocking two enemies into one another with a trip mine, and maybe perching at the top of Avengers Tower, though we couldn’t help ourselves as soon as we jumped into the game with that last one.

As for the trip mine trophy? Head to one of the bases, and simply fire the trip mine directly at an enemy stood nearby another. If they’re facing one, even better.
Once the trip mine hits them, a blue line will appear, if that lines up with an enemy, they’ll be knocked together by a web and are out of the fight. Just do this 10 times!
With a bit of luck, the platinum trophy for Spider-Man PS4 will be all yours, and you’ll have officially done pretty much everything there is to see and do in the game. Congrats!
