Is Skull & Bones Coming to Nintendo Switch?
When Assassin’s Creed III released in 2012, by far its most standout feature was the intense naval battles. These battles put you in direct control of a ship out on the high seas, aiming and shooting your cannons, ramming other ships, and using a variety of other attacks to sink the enemy. Since then the system has been iterated on in subsequent Assassin’s Creed games, and now an entirely new pirate experience is being built around Ubisoft’s naval combat with Skull & Bones. With an ambitious new pirate game on the way and the Switch’s momentum hitting critical mass, it’s only natural for owners of the newest Nintendo system to wonder if they might get to play Skull & Bones.
Unfortunately, at this moment there aren’t any plans to bring Skull & Bones to Nintendo Switch. That doesn’t mean that it might never happen, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Ubisoft even commented on the prospect of the game coming to Switch at E3 2017. Creative Director Justin Farren told GameSpot, “Our world is pretty rich in terms of the world that we’re bringing to life. We haven’t really talked too much about the Switch, but if that becomes a reality then we would maximize the strengths of the Switch.”
That does at least show that Ubisoft is considering Skull & Bones on Switch, no surprise with the way the publisher has been supporting Nintendo’s new system, with games like Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Batle and Starlink: Battle For Atlas. For now, however, if you’re wanting to sail the high seas with your own pirate crew you’ll have to stick with PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
Skull & Bones is currently schedule to release sometime in 2019.
