Want to learn how to drift in Forza Horizon 4? Here’s how to do it.

Forza Horizon 4 is here, and Xbox One owners are going to be treated to yet again, one of the finest racing games this generation. The Forza series keeps on trucking. Whether you prefer the realistic style of Motorsport, or the arcade feel of Horizon, you really can’t go wrong.

Forza Horizon 4, because it’s a bit more of the wild side, you can pull of some crazy drifts in cars that you probably wouldn’t be able to pull off that well if this was a game that was more grounded in realism. Here are some tips for how to drift properly in Forza Horizon 4.

You can drift in any car, but obviously, some cars are better at it than others. At its most basic level to drift in Forza Horizon 4, you need to swing the rear part of the car out. Use the steering wheel (left analog) so that the car is moving naturally with the curve of a turn. Breaking, by pressing left trigger, and the e-brake used by pressing A, while moving at high speeds will exaggerate the effect. This will give you the extreme drift that you’re envisioning in your head.

Obviously, as we mentioned, some cars are more suitable for drifting than others. Rear-wheel drive cars with a front engine have an easier time of swinging the backside of the car out than say all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive cars (although that’s not the case all of the time, it can vary from car to car). Also, cars with extremely high traction that grip the road well are great for keeping control. These cars though hurt your ability to drift. Try to avoid cars like stock-muscle cars, or other heavy cars that are better suited for just going in a straight line really fast, and instead go for cars that are better for whipping around turns like say, the Subaru WRX/STI.

Go into the game’s upgrade/tuning sections and play around with tuning your own car to drift better. It will vary greatly from car to car, and it comes with experience. Alternatively, you can see if there are Tunes that you can download and use. Also, finally, supercars just in general, are pretty good at doing whatever you want them to do.
