Fortnite Season 6 Double Barrel Changes: What You Need to Know

Shotguns are quite the luxury in Fortnite. It’s one of the quickest ways to get your opponents from 100 health to 0, and can also be pretty effective at burning down shields. The double barrel shotgun is one such weapon that has extremely high damage potential, being able to devour over 100 HP per hit. However, stress is on the word “potential.” Shotguns have a damage dropoff: the farther you are from an opponent, the less damage the weapon will do. This particularly rings true with the double barrel shotgun. While its spread is much greater than other shotguns, its range is far worse. However, Epic Games has changed the Double Barrel in Fortnite Season 6. Here are all Fortnite Season 6 Double Barrel changes you need to know about.

The Fortnite Season 6 Double Barrel changes are one of just a few that we’ve seen in the update. Previously, the double barrel shotgun had the potential to deal some of the highest amounts of damage in Fortnite with a single shot: 143 for epic and 150 for legendary at point-blank range.

However, the Fortnite Season 6 Double Barrel changes have nerfed the damage output. The maximum damage that an epic double barrel shotgun can now dish out is only 114 and 120 for a legendary. While this is still enough to take out someone in a single shot, it has to be a very good one from up close, and you don’t have much of a chance if the enemy has a shield. Seeing as the range on the double barrel isn’t all that good, it may require a few extra shots to get the job done.

And there you have the lowdown on the Fortnite Season 6 Double Barrel changes. For more information on Season 6, you can check out our Season 6 wiki. Or, for everything else video games, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
