Fortnite Close Encounters: Everything You Need to Know About the LTM

Recommended Videos

When Close Encounters debuted in Fortnite Battle Royale back in Season 4, it quickly became popular. Sadly though, it was axed due to unknown reasons. Simply put, Epic Games said they discovered some problems with it they needed to fix and indefinitely delayed the LTM. Now, months later, Close Encounters is back in Fortnite. Here’s everything you need to know about the LTM.

First off, for those who are familiar with Close Encounters, know that this mode is exactly as it was back in Season 4 so if you were hoping for some changes, you’ll sadly have to wait for the 3.0 version of this LTM. For those that have never played it, it’s basically your normal match of Fortnite Battle Royale except everyone has jetpacks with limited fuel, the storm circle closes in extremely fast and shotguns are everywhere. Simply put, and as the name would suggest, Epic Games wants players up in the face of their enemies. Sure, you can try to build a fort to snipe from, or position yourself in a strategically-placed bush to camp your way to the end, but chances are those strategies aren’t going to work. This LTM will have you moving constantly, both horizontally and vertically, and almost always in the sights of an enemy somewhere.

If you’re new to Fortnite Battle Royale, we suggest staying away from this LTM until you learn the ropes. This mode will be filled with veterans of the game and people who know exactly how this mode works. But, you shouldn’t let anybody tell you what to do. If you think you’ve got the chops to earn that sweet, sweet Victory Royale in Fortnite’s Close Encounters LTM, go for it.
