How to Get Experience Fast in Yakuza Kiwami 2
In the spirit of the first Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2 completely remakes the second game in the series, keeping the core story the same while adding in a ton of new gameplay mechanics, substories, minigames, and more. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is built on Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Dragon Engine, the same one used in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Because of this, the combat system, experience system, and quite a few other things are similar, but everything has been iterated on and expanded. You’ll no doubt want to power up Kiryu as much as possible, and you’ll need to know the best ways of getting experience fast in order to do just that.
The very first thing you should do in Yakuza Kiwami 2 is use your experience to purchase the “Boost EXP Gain” skills in your Life Skills section of the stats menu. This can drastically bump up the amount of experience you gain from the main story, as well as random fights, substories, and the like. Yakuza Kiwami 2 rewards you with experience for nearly everything you do in the game, so no matter what you choose to focus on you’ll be bringing in a moderate amount of experience.
In general, what rewards you with the most XP in Yakuza Kiwami 2, however, is the story. By following the main story and completing chapters and battles, you’ll be rewarded with hundreds of experience points, more so if you have the EXP Gain skills. It’s a good idea to see at least a little bit of the main story through, then dive into a bunch of side content.
Substories will also reward you with a moderate amount of XP, and on top of just being hilariously fun they’re relatively short.
Also make sure to eat at restaurants consistently, as they’ll also net you some tidy XP and you’ll get bonuses for different food combinations, as well as eating everything at any given restaurant. Just remember to manage your hunger gauge, as if it’s full, you won’t get any experience benefits from eating.
