Looting the Train Station
The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1 Story Summary
OBVIOUS SPOILERS AHEAD. This guide is broken up into several pieces in case you want part, but not all, of the story explained to you.
The first episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season starts off with Clementine and a slightly older AJ driving in a car. They’ve been on the road for a while now, and when AJ says he’s hungry, Clem decides to stop near an abandoned train station. As they explore the area, Clem reminds AJ of a few key things to ensure his safety. In our playthrough, we reminded him to always look for an exit when checking out a new place.
In the train station, Clem and AJ find a zombie couple that had killed themselves by overdosing on sleeping pills. While looking for food, the player can either kill the zombies for a key to open a backdoor or have AJ climb through an opening to unlock it himself. The pair finds a trapdoor with a ton of food supplies, but they find out that it’s rigged with explosives, and the noise causes the zombies to converge on their location.
Clem and AJ try to escape with the car but are quickly overwhelmed, and the car overturns. When Clem regains consciousness, she sees someone dragging AJ out of the car, and then she passes out again.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1 Story Summary
When Clem wakes up, she finds her wrist taped to the side of a bed. She manages to free herself and explore her surroundings. She finds herself in a building of some sorts, and when she hears someone approaching her room, Clem manages to hold him at knife-point. It turns out to be a young boy named Tenn. Another boy appears from the shadows, aiming a bow at her. He introduces himself as Marlon, and the two decide to call a truce so that Marlon can take her to AJ.
Marlon explains that they’re in the Erikson Boarding School, and all the adults are gone so it’s just the kids left here. Marlon heads off to deal with a zombie problem, and Clem manages to find AJ with another boy named Louis. Soon after, Marlon asks for her help to clear zombies from the perimeter, and she agrees. She also meets Violet, who isn’t very enthused about Clem’s car crash, which led to the zombies appearing near the school.
After helping out the kids, Clem and AJ walk around to talk to everybody, and she also gets AJ to apologize to the kids he inadvertently hurt before he knew what was going on. After dinner, Clem plays a card game with Marlon, Louis, and Violet, where they ask each other questions and get to know each other better. Later on, Marlon shows Clem and AJ to their bedroom and says they can talk about their permanent residence at the school the next morning. Before they head to sleep, Violet comes into the room looking for some crayons, and she explains that this room used to belong to Minnie and Sophie, two girls who had died to the zombies long ago. Violet and Clem become slightly better friends.
The next morning, while talking to Marlon, Clem learns of his worries about not having enough food for the group. Clem promises to help, and players then get the choice of either assisting Louis or Violet.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1 Story Summary
In our playthrough of The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1, we went with Violet and Brody to go fishing. During the outing, Brody explains that Violet is a little hostile to her because she still blames her for the deaths of Minnie and Sophie. Brody then asks Clem if she could help smooth things over. While talking with Violet, we learn that she simply feels guilty because she was supposed to be out on patrol with Minnie and Sophie that day, and she was sad she never got to say goodbye. Later on, Violet seems to warm up slightly to Brody as they make their way back.
Near the school, we notice that one of the traps have been set off, and Clem finds a cigarette rolled up with a page from the Bible. Brody freaks out and goes to tell Marlon about it. Louis and Violet are still worried about the food situation, so Clem suggests going back to the train station, even though it’s outside Marlon’s safe zone. At the train station, Clem and AJ are able to gather food with Louis and Violet keep a look out and distract the zombies. However, they soon encounter a raider who tries to steal their food. Clem manages to knock him into the arms of multiple zombies, and she and AJ run off with the food.
Back at the school, Brody continues to freak out about their encounter with the raider, and she worries that his group would come after the school. Marlon tries to smooth over the situation. The group eats, and then they go to sleep.
Confrontation with Marlon
The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1 Story Summary
In the middle of the night, Clem and AJ are woken up by some shouting. Clem tells AJ to stay put while she investigates. She realizes that the shouting is coming from the basement, and she manages to get in through a door in the courtyard. We find out that it’s Brody and Marlon engaged in an argument. As it turns out, they’re arguing about the situation with the raiders, and when Clem pushes them to tell her what’s going on, Brody reveals that Minnie and Sophie weren’t killed by zombies; Marlon had actually given them away to the raiders in exchange for their own safety. Marlon hits her hard with the flashlight, and Brody falls to the ground with blood dripping all over her head.
While Marlon panics and looks around for a first aid kit, Brody tells Clem that he’s planning to trade off her and AJ if the raiders come back. Marlon doesn’t find anything, and then he runs for the exit while Clem chases him. He bars the door behind him, and apologizes to Clem, saying he can’t let her ruin their group dynamics. Meanwhile, Clem finds a ruler she can use to try to unbar the door. However, Brody turns into a zombie, and Clem has no choice but to kill her.
Out in the courtyard, everyone is awake, and AJ is pointing a gun at Marlon, demanding to know where Clem is. When Clem shows up, she hears that Marlon is telling everyone that she killed Brody and that she was dangerous. He also manages to disarm AJ and take control of the situation. While Marlon tries to turn everyone on Clem, she manages to convince Violet that she’s innocent, and Violet stands up for her. Clem then attacks Marlon while he’s distracted and the gun falls to the ground. In our playthrough, we opted to throw Marlon into the basement before we decide what to do with him. He admits defeat but is immediately shot through the head by AJ, who picked up the gun in all the confusion.
