What the Best Solo Weapon Is in Monster Hunter World
Now that Monster Hunter World has launched on PC, there’s a ton of new hunters that’ll be jumping in around the world. The newest entry in the cult-classic series once again casts you as an adventuring hunter making their way to the New World to help the Research Commission. While investigating and studying the Elder Dragons, you’ll have to take on a number of unique creatures. Of course, you have plenty of options to choose from before you head out and start hunting. That includes the items, traps, armor, and weapons you take with you. After all, preparation is the most important thing in Monster Hunter World, so you’ll need to know what the best solo weapon in the game is.
We’ve previously talked about the best weapon types in general for different playstyles, but if you’re playing on your own you might want to pick the best solo weapon. In truth, you can realistically use any of the 14 different weapon types in Monster Hunter World and be successful, and a lot of the game simply comes down to learning to use a specific weapon and mastering it. However, there are certain weapons that might be more fitting or solo play. Around the release of patch 1.05 Japanese fans of Monster Hunter World voted on the best solo weapons with the site Gamy.jp. Unsurprisingly, the faster weapons that let you avoid enemy attacks and deliver quick blows ranked higher, while the slower weapons with lengthy animations ranked lower. Here’s the full ranking.

Again, the most important thing is to make sure you’re comfortable and confident with the solo weapon you try to use, but in general if you’re playing completely solo it’s best to go with a fast weapon type like the Dual Blades.
