Is Chasm Coming to Xbox One?
Developed by Discord Games, Chasm is a Kickstarter-funded game that launched its campaign way back on April 12, 2013. It reached its $150,000 goal on May 6 and received an overall total of $191,897 by the campaign’s end. Chasm is a 2D platformer/adventure game with procedurally generated levels and a well-detailed pixel art style. It was originally estimated to launch in May 2014, but here we are on Aug. 1, 2018, the game’s release date. To say that it was delayed would be an understatement. In any case, the game is now available to purchase digitally on Steam, PS4 and PS Vita. That’s great for people that have those systems, but what if you only own an Xbox One? Will the game be coming to Microsoft’s eight generation home console?
Unfortunately, at this point in time, it doesn’t look like Chasm is planned to release on the Xbox One. It’s not out of the realm of possibility for the game to release on Xbox One at some point in the future. The likely reason that it didn’t launch on Xbox One alongside the PS4 is licensing fees. For each home console that Discord Games wishes to release Chasm on, they would have to pay a licensing fee to the console manufacturer. Releasing on multiple home consoles may not have been a viable option for the indie developer at launch. This could very well change in the future, and if it does, we’ll be sure to update this post. It should be noted that the game also isn’t available on the Nintendo Switch.
If you do plan to pick up Chasm on Steam or PlayStation, the game is 10% off for the launch week, so purchase it quickly to save yourself a few bucks.
That’s all there is to know about whether or not Chasm is coming to Xbox One. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
