How to Throw Grenades in the CoD Black Ops 4 Beta
CoD fans once again get to return to the world Black Ops when Black Ops 4 releases later this year on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. If you happened to get into the beta, however, you’re able to jump right into some competitive multiplayer matches right now. No doubt, if you’ve been playing Black Ops 4 you might have noticed things are a bit different this time around, especially in terms of how classes and characters work. In particular, you might be wondering how to throw grenades, and there’s a bit of a catch this time.
In Black Ops 4 grenades are tied to specific classes, in the case of the beta, Ajax and Battery. Grenades are equipment for these classes and are tied to cooldowns, in an effort to cut down on the grenade spam that’s been so prevalent in past CoD games.
Ajax comes equipped with 9-bang Stuns, which do just what they sound like by stunning the enemy, while Battery comes with Cluster Grenades that split out into smaller explosions.
To actually use the grenades you just need to hit the R1 button while playing as one of these specialists and hold down the button to cook the grenade. Alternatively, once you do unlock the create a class option, frag grenades will unlock for the equipment slot at level 29. It’s also possible that there will be more classes with grenades in the full game, but in the current beta it’s only Ajax and Battery.
Keep in mind too that this likely won’t be the same for Blackout mode, which has its own beta coming later in September.
If you need some info on when exactly the beta will begin and end on each platform, you can see that here.
