All Xbox One Game Releases for August 2018

As the scorching summer days of June and July fade into the past, it can only mean that we’re approaching the time of the year where video game releases begin to start hitting thick and fast. The Xbox One game releases for August 2018, in particular, sees a significant increase in the number of titles that players can pick up during the month.

One of the more notable games to hit the Xbox One in August is the official release of We Happy Few. Dropped in an alternative version of World War II where a hallucinogenic drug known Joy keeps citizens unaware of what’s going on around them, players are tasked with escaping the city of Wellington Wells, all the while uncovering the truth behind the locale and its inhabitants.

If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then there’s always Telltale Games’ iconic The Walking Dead franchise releasing the first episode of its final season the week after. This time, players will follow the story of an older Clementine, who must now become a leader of a small settlement all the while still watching over the young boy in her care, AJ. Oh, and then ensuring that either of them doesn’t get eaten. Not a whole lot, then. All of the usual decision-making and narrative-focused action is to be expected, and Season 1’s writer, Gary Whitta, has returned as a story consultant on Season 4, which only gives you more reason to be excited.

And, of course, as we approach the start of the peak video game season with August, you can bet your bottom dollar there are a few sports franchises releasing the latest iterations of their titles. Madden NFL 19 hits the Xbox One (among other platforms) on Aug. 10, and will continue the Longshot story, provide hundreds of hours of more Ultimate Team gameplay, and have the updated rosters and improved features you’ve come to expect. PES 2019 releases towards the end of August, aiming to get out ahead of soccer game rival FIFA 19, which has this year pinched the Champion’s League license right out from under its rival’s nose. What Konami has done to help combat this in PES 2019 remains to be seen, but is sure to offer a more fast-paced alternative to EA’s offering. And finally, for those who can’t get enough of going incredibly fast in the finest cars that money can buy, F1 2018 also releases towards the end of the month with this season’s new vehicles, improved visuals, and more.
