Shining Resonance Refrain: How to Change Characters

How to Change Characters in Shining Resonance Refrain

Recommended Videos

Shining Resonance Refrain is the first game to make its way out of Japan in over a decade, and there’s plenty for JRPG fans to dig into. The game stars a young man named Yuma Ilvern, whose body houses the spirit of the legendary Shining Dragon. Yuma has to team up with the Dragoneers of Astoria, who each wield a weapon known as an Armonic, that doubles as a musical instrument. With Yuma himself and all the Dragoneers there are quite a few different party members that join you along the way. Luckily, you can play as any of the party members at any given time, and it’s easy to switch between them.

When out on the field simply hit the start button to bring up the main menu and select the party option. Move the character you want to play as to the first slot that says leader, and you’re good to go. You can also switch between party members on the fly in battle by doing the same thing, however, any party members that didn’t start out active in battle can’t be brought in. Unfortunately, there also isn’t a quick swap button so you will need to open the menu to switch between characters.

Each character in Shining Resonance Refrain functions quite differently. Yuma is your offensive powerhouse, Kirika is mostly a healer, Rinna is an offensive mage with healing abilities, Sonia is an offensive tank, Marion is a ranged character good at breaking, and both Agnum and Lestin are balanced between physical offense and magic. It’s a good idea to at least try out every character once, and see which one fits your style the best. Of course, whichever character you aren’t controlling you can issue orders to using the D-pad.
